April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and today we continue the talk of Sex: Is this normal? with a focus on grooming, views on relationships through adolescence and young adulthood, and healing into the future.
It's a gradual process. The abuser picks their target, build up trust, and the actual abuse, which is usually sexual or financial, doesn't come until much later.
When folks age out of grooming… What now? When carrying it forward into adulthood, do we forgive the adults who were there and didn’t say anything? The people who shamed and guilted those who went through trauma… how do we forgive that? Do we need to forgive? Better yet, do they even need to know/ be notified of the grace and mercy.
