Episode Synopsis

Hey there, Austin! If you’re looking for something fun to do this week, you’re in luck. Today is a great day to dive into some serious art and culture with the brand new Sistine Chapel Experience at Barton Creek Square Mall. This immersive exhibit is a full scale digital recreation of the Sistine Chapel, complete with Michelangelo’s famous frescoes like The Creation of Adam and The Last Judgment projected all around you. The ceiling is brought down to just 18 feet, so you can see every detail up close, and there’s even a full scale replica of Michelangelo’s Pietà and a Gutenberg Bible on display. The exhibit is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and includes a special bourbon tasting from Uncle Boojie’s Distilling Co., so art lovers and local spirits fans can enjoy a truly Austin twist on a Vatican classic.Later tonight, music fans can catch Silverstein live at Radio East on Montopolis Drive at 8 p.m. It’s a solid punk rock show for anyone who loves a high energy concert in a cool local venue. If you’re more into storytelling and live performance, head to the Paramount Theatre where The Moth takes the stage at 7 p.m. with real people telling true, unscripted stories. It’s always a great night of laughs, surprises, and heartfelt moments. For the rest of the week, keep an eye on the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar at the Palmer Events Center, which kicks off Saturday and runs through December 21. It’s 44,000 square feet of handmade art, local food, drinks, and the famous National String Off competition. It’s one of the best places in town to find unique holiday gifts and soak up that Austin weird. Over at Zilker Park, the Austin Trail of Lights is going strong with more than two million lights, Santa’s house, rides, food, and live music every night. It’s open starting at 7 p.m. and is a perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. And if you’re into holiday pop ups, there’s a Naughty or Nice Holiday Pop Up Bar happening at Upstairs at Caroline this week, serving festive cocktails in a playful, festive setting. Thanks so much for tuning in, and don’t forget to subscribe so you never miss what’s happening in Austin.
