Episode Synopsis
Hello everyone, my name is Kimberly Eduarda Rocha Moraes, I am nineteen years old and currently I'm at the university state of Londrina where I am graduating in English Literature. So, I’m recording this podcast for academic work and during this podcast I will talk about Boitata.
So, the Boitata has its many versions, but I will tell you about the more known and original tale. The legend of Boitatá is a folklore Brazilian from the Tupi-guarani indigenous ethnic and this indigenous Tupi-guarani is unknown, there is not information about the indigenous group, only that they are from the Brazilian coast.
So now I will present the legend of Boitata. The Boitata is a giant fire serpent with eyes in the body that helps to protect forests, however, the Boitata has eyes in the body because it eats the mortal remains of animals killed for the hunters in the forest. Those eyes light up and help the serpent to protect the forest. This serpent takes care of the forest and protects the forest where it lives against evil people who destroy nature, for example by burning, cutting trees, killing animals, and that provoke bushfires in the forest. The serpent lays ambushes as a to transform in the trunk to fool the hunters, as such the serpent kills hunters, and people who commit violence in the forest. The Boitata hides in forest places and the river localized in the forest and the serpent sleeps in the deep river and wakes up only to protect the forest and look for the evil people, hunter and who to make some evil for the forest by which it saves. This serpent is too protective of its home.
So, the moral of the legend shows the importance of not to be an evil person, and that to be an evil person takes even death. This legend also shows that it is a good deed to protect nature, the animals, and take care of the environment. So, do good for our world!
Bye bye Guys, I hope you enjoyed it.
