Listen "Who?"

Episode Synopsis

Read Acts 1: 15-261) We sometimes make unimportant decisions by flipping a coin, playing "rock, paper, scissors," or choosing a number between one and ten. Why don’t we make vital decisions in the same way?2) After the Ascension, Jesus had told his followers (around 120) to go to Jerusalem and wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Why do you think they chose a replacement for Judas before the arrival of the Spirit on Pentecost? Do you think it might have changed the outcome?3) After prayer, lots were cast between the two candidates, Barsabbas and Mattias, to replace Judas. In scripture, we never hear from the one chosen, Mattias, ever again. What do you think this means? 4) Church tradition tells us Mattias was faithful serving God, bearing witness to the Good News of Jesus, and helping others to become disciples, but he is still virtually unknown among modern Christians. Do you think Mattias is a role model for all the unknown followers of Jesus whose story will never be told? Why or why not?5) How does God intend to love the world? What is your role in God’s plan? Does it matter that your name or story will ever be known? Why or why not?
