Listen "Keep Talking"
Episode Synopsis
Read James 5:13-181) In our sermon series, “Jimmy Knows,” the opening question is this: “Is anyone among you in trouble?” What are the troubles in your life?2) James’ answer to the troubles that are a part of the human condition is prayer. Is prayer a part of your life? Do you regularly pray for others? Do you ask others to pray for you? Why or why not?3) Richard Rohr says: “Prayer removes the debris of our lives and creates holy spaciousness for God. It is a form of remodeling our lives.” Do you agree with this statement? If so, how will you integrate it into your prayer life?4) Verse fifteen of today’s passage is deeply troubling: “And the prayers offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.” Most of us have suffered the loss of a loved one who was lifted up in prayer many times. How do you reconcile James’ statement with your own experience? Do you believe that sometimes healing can only happen on the other side? Do you accept there is mystery in prayer that we might never understand in this life? 5) The take away from today’s scripture is that connection to God and connection to one another begins with prayer. How will this statement change your own prayer life or will it?
