Goal's Seth Vertelney brings you the latest American women’s soccer news.Parity is the name of the game in the NWSL right now, as the Chicago Red Stars ended the weekend in first place, but the seventh-place Washington Spirit are just two points behind them. In between sit five teams all level on 16 points, including Houston, Gotham FC and Portland, who were all winners over the weekend.Gotham FC’s weekend started off in rocky fashion though, as their general manager Alyse LaHue was fired following an NWSL investigation into a complaint filed against her for violating a league policy. Meanwhile in Japan, the U.S. women’s national team is now just two days away from beginning their Olympic campaign. The U.S. kicks off against Sweden on Wednesday, beginning group play at the games, before they face New Zealand and Australia to round off group play.
