Listen "End User Computing (Desktop) Strategy and Development update"
Episode Synopsis
Following on from the IT review and recommendation C4 "There should be a central service that offers an affordable but flexible, supported "desktop" service to Schools, Departments and Institutions, accessible by mobile devices, and supporting a range of operating systems." an End User Computing strategy group was set up to recognise the varying needs of the different user communities, whilst in turn leveraging the benefits of a common approach and interoperability across devices. The strategy should add value to the universities teaching, research and administrative functions.
Note: The current three recognised Desktop Services are the Managed Cluster Service (MCS), Administrative Desktop and Institution Support Service Desktop.
This presentation will highlight the work undertaken thus far and the future development of the strategy.
