There is a secular belief that if God is real, then life should get easier when you decide to follow Jesus. The opposite is actually true. Being a disciple of Jesus is hard work and there are many scriptures that explicitly support this idea. Jesus told the disciples they would be persecuted, outcast, ridiculed, tortured and murdered. This is no task for the man who is mentally, physically and spiritually unfit. Serving Jesus well…performing at a high level…is only possible if you prepare your soul, body, and spirit accordingly. So make a decision to follow God, eliminate distractions, and get to work!
