Episode Synopsis

Yesterday I had an experience that I don't have very often, I was actually overwhelmed by tears while I was working with a client. Now I'm the life coach. So I'm the one that should have my stuff together, right? Well, it wasn't about not having my stuff together. It was about I was so touched by the story she was telling me. And I had such great compassion for the event that she had participated in. Her church had put on a event for women. And she was telling me the story I'd actually already heard earlier about someone who had attended it, and had gotten so much out of it. And as she was telling me that story, I begin to focus on seeing these women being heard and cared for and understood and listened to, and how the church had come together in such a wonderful way to care for these women in a very special way. As she was telling that story. I'm not exactly sure what happened on the inside of me, nor do I really care. But what I do know is that I became really overwhelmed. It was so sweet and tender on the inside of me, because I was thinking about noticing how these women were actually being heard and listened to. When you listen to someone's story they feel loved. You know, we often want to tell our story, and we want to be heard, but do we really listen, you know, when you listen, you can change someone's life. Listening is a difficult skill. I know I have to learn. I have learned how to have that skill, and I'm really good at it. But it's not something that is just for me. Everyone can learn to listen. And when you listen to someone's story, you can help them heal because they feel cared for. And I'm wondering why it would take an event once a year for someone to be heard. I love you. I'm Dan Clark.
