Dan Casebeer is the epitome of class and kindness. He was born in Oregon but began racing bikes in Southern Illinois. This son of a college professor, Dan, raced time trials, road races to track. His strength of mind pushed him to be Illinois state time trial champion to eventually becoming the amateur hour record holder for the U.S. in 1983. He's raced to Tour of Guatemala, the Tour of Chile to the Tour of Texas. Dan hung of the wheels after a bad back injury to work and eventually buy Grand Performance bike shop in St. Paul, Minnesota from Steve Hed. Yes, Steve Hed, the owner of Hed Wheels. I sat down with him to talk everything bike racing and life.
