Listen "There's no such thing as Bad Publicity and that's BS"
Episode Synopsis
The notion that "there's no such thing as bad publicity" is often presented as truth, but in my experience, it's simply not true. In my early days of franchising, I encountered several instances of bad publicity, both within and outside my organization. One particular franchisee's behaviour prompted multiple complaints from potential sellers. Despite my efforts to address the issue, the franchisee's behaviour could have improved, and they ultimately decided not to renew their agreement. When recounting this experience in training sessions, I was dismayed that some attendees didn't see the severity of the situation. The franchisee's actions included leaving his children with a potential client during a market appraisal, showing up uninvited at sellers' homes with manipulative motives, and even harassing a homeowner to the point of her hiding in her own home. This behaviour had a profoundly negative impact on my company's reputation and the well-being of potential clients. This reinforces my belief that lousy publicity exists and its effects can be damaging and far-reaching.
