Before and after independence in 1960, Nigeria was hailed as a promising country that would lead the way for the overall development of Africa. Today, the country is fumbling around without a focus, like a ship on the sea without a captain. There are now calls for dissolution of the country so that each region, each section could go its way. This road to self determination could well plunge the country into another bloodbath or it could bring about a rebirth. Time seems to be running out.
