Listen "Embracing Neurodiversity: The Power of Inclusion"
Episode Synopsis
Dr. Sarah Rasmi speaks with clinical psychologist Jessica Rosslee (M.A.) about what neurodiversity really means, how to recognize it, and what to do after a diagnosis. They discuss ADHD, autism, and more — with a focus on moving beyond labels and understanding that you are not your story. Note: When Jessica mentions that six symptoms are needed for an ADHD diagnosis, she's referring to the DSM-5 criteria for children and teens. For adults (17+), only five symptoms are required. This episode offers a brief overview. A full neurodiversity assessment — especially for ADHD or autism — should also consider factors like executive functioning, emotional regulation, sensory differences, social challenges, masking, and co-occurring conditions. This podcast is not a substitute for mental health advice or treatment. People are advised to reach out to a qualified healthcare provider should they need medical advice, counselling, and/or therapy regarding the matters that are discussed in this podcast.
