In an exclusive interview with TheRightDoctors on Emcure AICOG tv, Dr. Maninder Ahuja Diploma in Gynecology & Obstetrics spoke about cervical cancer, it's prevention and cure. This is what she said :
'Cervical cancer screening is very important and are becoming major of maternal mortality these years.
We have two methods of preventing cervical cancer. One is by vaccination and second is by the screening.
Vaccination should start at the age 9 years to 15 years before the girl child had exposure to sexual contact and screening then comes later on because cervical has a long precancerous spores where we can screen these women.
Indian pediatric association has taken up cervical cancer screening program, but the government of India is not able to afford it because of the high cost, so at some places like in Punjab and other places they have acquired some vaccines.
FOGSI is doing lots of work on cervical cancer screening. I had taken it as my main agenda during my vice presidential year 2012-2013 in FOGSI'
