Discussion Questions

1. Adele shared that she started Soul Submitted Designs because “God asked me to.” What does obedience to God’s prompting look like in your own life?
Read: John 14:15  “If you love me, obey my commandments.”

2. Adele was stirred to create designs because she saw the cross being misrepresented. What steps can you take to represent Jesus faithfully in your own sphere of influence?
Read: 2 Corinthians 5:20 - “So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”


3. Through simple clothing, Adele and others have seen opportunities to share Jesus naturally. How does Colossians 3:17 (“Whatever you do… do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus”) inspire you to integrate evangelism into your daily routines - through your work, hobbies, or even what you wear?
 
4. Adele said, “The first conversation a Christian has is with themselves.” How does wearing or displaying your faith help keep your heart aligned with Christ?
Read: "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”

5. Many people who saw Adele’s shirts didn’t start conversations, but the message still reached them. How can you be faithful in “sowing” the gospel, even when you don’t see immediate results?
Read: Matthew 13:3-9  “He told many stories in the form of parables, such as this one: “Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds. As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them. Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow.  But the plants soon wilted under the hot sun, and since they didn’t have deep roots, they died. Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!  Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”

6. Adele’s designs opened new doors for evangelism through art and fashion. What creative skills or resources might God be calling you to use for His glory?
Read: Exodus 35:31–32 “The Lord has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts.  He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze.”

7. Adele mentioned the challenges of running a Christian business and how she speaks with “CEO Father God” about every issue. How can perseverance in difficulty make your witness stronger?
Read: Philippians 4:6–7  “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.  Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
