Episode Synopsis

There are 168 hours in a week. If you break down average amounts that teens spend doing different things throughout the week, about 33% of that is sleeping/resting, 20% is school, 7%-10% are hobbies (including sports), but only about 1.5 hours of that is church. Worse yet, only a fraction of that church time is dedicated towards really teaching them about their faith. What this amounts to is around 1/3 of 1% of a teen's time spent learning about God with a religious leader. Is it any wonder that the statistics of how many teens stick with church into adulthood are so low? This was never how it was supposed to be. For literally thousands of years, God has been passed on to the next generation by parents and parental figures (family, mentors, etc). What changed? At some point, families started viewing teaching faith as the responsibility of a youth pastor or YoungLife leader. It starts in the home and if we value our children, we should be excited to have the opportunity to share that the Christ we hold with the next generation of believers.
