Last week we talked about physical baptism, but what do we make of John the Baptist's words who spoke about baptism "by fire"? It can be easy to see the metaphorical and prophetical meaning behind John's words when we look at the life of Christ and coming of the Holy Spirit. In a way, we can look at baptism "by fire" as the counterpart to our physical expression of baptism "by water". It helps us to understand the divine change that only God can make on our hearts which moves us to reflect on God's grace through the act of physical baptism.
