Now he will defend the life of freedom that justification by faith brings.It is one thing to have a knowledge of the great doctrine, justification by faith. But that is not enough, we need to make application of this great doctrine. It is only by making application of this great doctrine that we are able to enjoy the wonderful liberty that we have in Christ.One thing that Paul wants to drive home in this passage; legalism is no small thing in the body of Christ. It is destructive from every angle. There is no upside to legalism.
