Listen "Beginner's guide to sync licensing"
Episode Synopsis
When music is put to picture, a synchronization license is required. The music in your favorite films, TV shows, and movies all had to get the proper permissions before using them. These licenses can be quite lucrative for musicians, labels, and publishing companies... if they're done correctly. And getting placed in a hot new TV show (think 'Euphoria') can expose you to an entirely new audience that may have never discovered you otherwise. Sync licensing is one of the most sought after sectors of the music industry. It's impeccable for exposure and can provide career-changing paychecks, but a wrong move could dampen your entire strategy and career. This week, Monique and Lennon talk about the basics to get your feet wet. Last week we discussed music metadata and why it's important. Rob walked us through every piece of metadata that is needed for music distribution. That information carries over directly into sync licensing.
