Episode Synopsis

Silence is seen by most as a means to an end. It is utilized as a tool that is to be employed in attaining what we imagine to be a good life. And at that, it is one of any number of tools that may be pulled out at will and utilized to any number of ends. And Silence for now is content to be hauled along for the ride in your endeavors. It rejoices when it can soothe your nerves at the end of a long day or prepare you for that presentation whereby you hope to gain the promotion. But if it is not your constant companion, if it serves you and you do not serve it, then it is likely that there is another spirit - not so silent - who competes for the ruling of your consciousness. That not so silent spirit shakes and wrangles and chases on toward the great abyss. And the more you serve your own desires, the more need you have of that meditation hour and the less relief it proffers. For the point of Silence was never to remain silent. And if the truth is still in you, you will likely admit that it speaks even now, calling you to forsake the unthinkable - the very thing for which your flesh yearns. And so, it is not enough to silence the mind if it is not done with the intent of being made into something that resembles the Silence we worship. And that is not so transparent a task, as anyone who has spent much time examining their own thoughts and motives knows. Only when we obey those promptings that arise by themselves out of stillness, can we be made to see what presently to us is invisible. And in that, there is hope and true grace. So, don’t give up on your meditations. Rather, go on until no action, intended or inadvertent disturbs, till nothing rankles, till the slave driver who presses upon your mind and drives for the abyss has no power to decide your actions. Then you will be a Saint and will enter into the Holy City that is made without hands, whose builder and maker is God. It is the inheritance of all those whom Silence chooses or who choose Silence as the case may be. There are those even now who walk among you who have chosen to abide behind its strong walls. Will you?
