We all experience hunger. It is something we were born with and motivates humanity in ways that go beyond food, but also progress, innovation, and success. There is a profoundly important spiritual hunger every human has as well and Jesus makes reference to this in His opening words from the Sermon on the Mount. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." (Matt. 5:6) It is the longing of our souls that lead us to seek truth but an important question we must ask is: Am I truly satisfied? Jesus' promise is ultimate satisfaction as we live in right relationship with God, but sometimes we still reach for substitutes. In this sermon, we thoughtfully reflect on the importance of hunger and feeding our souls what we need most - Jesus.
