"Critical Thinking With A Twist" is our motto and the P.I.K.E. Method is designed for anyone that has challenges with learning, comprehension and critical thinking.Introduction: This episode discusses the origins of the Pike net group.Personal Experience:I learned to process information differently from other students and developed my own methods.Mentorship: Mentors recognized my unique processing style and assisted me.Teaching Career: After earning my bachelor's degree in Geology, Philosophy and Religion; and spending decades in the business, industrial and environmental consulting, I pursued a teaching career and became a general science teacher in Massachusetts.Teaching Methodology:I observed similar issues in my students and adapted my methodology for middle and high school science students, particularly for student with learning and comprehension challenges.Challenges and Success:My success in improving class scores led to criticism from fellow educators, limiting my time in public education.Teaching Philosophy:I believe in adapting teaching methods beyond rigid Common Core guidelines. Conclusion:Effective teaching involves training students to process information, not just memorizing facts. Common Core practices are inadequate for today's students.
