As we enter the third week of our Advent study, we consider the teaching of Jesus; focusing on Matthew 22:34-40. Jesus declares that love for God with all of one’s being is the greatest commandment in Scripture, and He couples that with another commandment: love for our neighbors. Jesus describes that all of the law and prophets depend on these two commandments. We are given many commands in the Bible for how we are to live as followers of Jesus, but at the center of them all rest these two commands; to love the Lord our God with all our heart, all our soul, and will all our mind; and to love our neighbor as ourselves.
