Letting go is the start of this process...  As you continue to move and make choices through the old energy, you are showing yourself and the Universe (also you) that you are "more powerful" than that old story...  Enough action taken through fear and doubt will decrease the suffering energy so much in your life that you will be able to get into a state of "alignment" with the new life, thing, or person you are asking for in your experience.
