Hello my beautiful friends! My name is Rome and welcome to the joy channel! A podcast where we discuss self-development through shifting perspectives and cultivating more joy in our lives! We cover topics such as confidence, trust, letting go, and of course joy!
Let’s get started.
What better way to start this podcast than with seven techniques for cultivating joy?
Number one: Call upon a joyful memory. specifically remember how it felt in your body and your heart and your soul. feel the intense feeling And warmth in your limbs, in your feet. How did it make you feel? Think about that, and bring that feeling into the present if you can feel it from a memory you can feel it right now. It doesn’t have to be something big. It can be something like your favorite song coming on the radio at the right time. That feeling of excitement and exuberance as you belt it out. Or A time walking in the park, or a silly little time with friends. Feel the feelings in your body and bring them forth.
Number two: Think about a person that spending time with always brings you joy. Specifically think about all the aspects of that person that are joyful to you, and realize that you have those aspects as well, or you have the ability to grow them. Hold that feeling in your heart and in your mind, and that’s how you bring that joy into the present.
Number three: Body movement. So whether it’s dancing, walking, swimming, weightlifting, whatever your thing is… do it! If time is an issue for you if you have 3 1/2 minutes put a song on that always makes you happy and dance around- be as silly you can! Just get into it, just really get into it and let your body move, and just do anything.
Number four: Singing. Pay attention to the songs that you’re choosing. Be mindful about the words that you’re singing because that’s going to affect your mood as well. Build a positive playlist with all sorts of uplifting wonderful songs to elevate your mood. If you’re wanting to be in a good mood, even if the song is up-tempo, if it’s a break-up song it’s not the joyful mood that you want to be cultivating. Do yourself a favor and build that playlist and you will be all set.
Number five: Immerse yourself in nature. Literally, go to your happy place. Whether it's the beach, the woods, a park, a rooftop so you can look at the sky and feel the wind on you. Just spend some time surrounded by the beauty of the planet that we live on. If you live in a city, try finding a park or somewhere where you know that there's indoor plants to appreciate. Don't check your phone the whole time, put it aside, really allow yourself to be present in nature, be present in this world that you're in. Look at all the beautiful plants, and flowers, and waves, and birds, and whatever it is. Look at the sky, look at the clouds all the beautiful patterns in the clouds, in the stars. Immerse yourself, and let yourself just chill and be. And you don't have to do it for long, you can do it for 5 minutes, 20 minutes.
Number six: Be creative! Create something, grow something, pick up a craft, take up a hobby, revisit a skill that you put down! Whatever brings you back to that Joyful place within yourself that's just you making something, do that. That feeling of being so totally in the zone that you don't notice time passing. Choose to take 10 minutes for yourself to write a poem or work on a piece of art. Whatever it is that fits for your life, DO IT.
