Listen "Matt & Andy Mullins - Sand Hill Road"
Episode Synopsis
Our guests are Matt & Andy Mullins - Co-founders of privately owned, Melbourne based hospitality business Sand Hill Road Group.
Following the launch of the business in the year 2000, Sand Hill Road has gone on to own, develop & operate over twelve distinct venues, adding their own design flavour throughout the process and reinvigorating traditional notions of how hotel & leisure assets are managed.
The business currently owns and operates high profile venues including the Hotel Esplanade in St Kilda, Garden State Hotel, Waterside Hotel, Prahan Hotel, Bridge Hotel, Richmond Club Hotel, Terminus Hotel, The Posty & Holliava - previously, they've also been actively involved in The Commercial Club Hotel, The Loft & the Heritage Hotel in QLD.
In March 2020, it was reported that private-equity backed Australian Venue Co had secured a $100m+ deal to acquire eight SRG assets, though the resulting Covid-19 crisis halted those plans, at least in the short-term.
In hindsight, the fog & difficulties of the past twenty-one months may ultimately prove to be a blessing in disguise for the group, with pub assets trading at record highs and the re-opening of the Victorian economy resulting in a strong re-bound in patronage across the sector.
