Episode Synopsis

In this week's episode, I have Yuri Damitz joining me.   As a coach, Yuri helps purpose-driven, career-oriented women connect with their mission and get to the next level of happiness and fulfillment. She started her career in the financial industry as a consultant and held several leadership positions at banks and financial institutions.  After climbing the corporate ladder for 20 years, she had a midlife crisis that turned into an existential crisis. She started her healing and self-discovery journey. This led to discovering her mission to empower other women to align their work with their true selves, free from familial and societal expectations. She started her coaching business as a side hustle in 2020 while working as Senior Director at a fintech startup. After the side hustle turned into multiple six-figure businesses, she quit her corporate job and became a full-time business owner. Her company, HEA Coaching International, offers coaching services and educational programs globally.    In this episode, Yuri and I discussed: Her heritage and family background Life in Kobe when she was growing up Different things we have all come to love about Japanese culture such as music, food, dialects Making tea as an artform (tea ceremony) Why she moved to the US initially to pursue a Master's degree Her education and professional background How she assimilated to US culture as a new immigrant Seniority system and how it permeates in schools and work Her parents dream for her vs following her own dream Turning her old limiting beliefs into something that made her driven to achieve her goals Why she decided to live in the US after graduate school Imposter syndrome and how it becomes a usual challenge for immigrants as they try to assimilate to US culture and want to fit in Dealing with her self-image, knowing she is not an American with English as a second language, and how she overcame them How Yuri balanced Japanese and US culture with raising her children and also when communicating with her parents Yuri shares her thoughts on the Japanese economy Things Yuri could change about her journey, based on what she knows now Yuri's advice to immigrants and those aspiring to move to the US   Connect with Yuri Damitz here:  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/yuridamitz/ Website: https://yurid-media.com/ Email: [email protected] Yuri's Podcast: https://yurid-media.com/podcast-2/   Let's Connect!
