Listen "New report says politicians should shift drug budget to a health focus"
Episode Synopsis
New research suggests our drug laws are stuck in the 70s – and that Kiwis want to see a more health-based approach to tackling the country’s drug issues. This month marks 50 years since government passed the Misuse of Drugs Act. The Helen Clark Foundation and University of Otago researchers estimate that drug harm costs close to $2 billion annually – at least half a billion alone on responding to drug use. Today on The Front Page, lead researcher Dr Rose Crossin is with us to take us through New Zealanders’ changing attitudes towards drug policy.
