People can be a stumbling block to your spiritual growth. Be careful who you take advice from. The Word of God is your best advisor and counselor. Colleagues who don’t know what they are talking about can be hindrances. Jesus Christ said, “Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind and if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch” (Matt 15:14). A pastor can be a stumbling block if he: doesn’t teach you accurate information, doesn’t teach you the truth of the Bible, doesn’t explain to you how the plan of God works, or hinders you from growing in the grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ. God holds us accountable if we misrepresent Him. And the Bible makes it clear, you don’t sell the Word of God. You get it free and you give it away free. If God is in it, He will pay for it. Don’t be a stumbling block to growing believers. “Take care lest this liberty of yours becomes a stumbling block to the weak believer” (1 Cor 8:8-9).
