Episode Synopsis "The Existentialist Crisis - Episode 1"

Welcome to the Existentialist Crisis, where two University of the Pacific students explore the philosophy and literary work of Albert Camus. We will be reading Camus’s La Peste and L’Etranger, and relating both works to the modern experiences of crisis, revolt, and fear in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and our ever changing world. In this first episode, we discuss the first half of Camus’ L’Etranger. We approach this reading within the context of absurdity, humanity, morality, and moral regression, with the help of Lady Gaga and Lawrence Kohlberg ----- Bonjour et bienvenue à la Crise Existentialiste, ou deux étudiants exploreront la philosophie et les travaux littéraires d’Albert Camus. Nous lirons La Peste et L’Etranger a Camus, et nous raconterons les travaux des expériences modernes de la crise, du révolté, et de la peur dans le contexte de COVID-19 et le contexte de notre monde changé. Dans cet épisode, nous discutons L’Etranger. Nous approchons cette texte avec ces thèmes: l'absurde, l’humanité, le moralité, et la régression, avec des aides à Lady Gaga et Lawrence Kohlberg.
