In Romans 6, Paul tells us that when we placed our faith in Jesus, we weren’t just given a new belief system—we were united with Jesus in His death and resurrection. That means the “old you”—the one ruled by sin, shame, fear, and performance—is dead and buried. And in its place stands someone new.But many of us don’t feel new. We still struggle with sin, guilt, and old patterns. That’s why Paul tells us to “reckon” ourselves dead to sin but alive to God. We’re called to live from what’s already true, not what we feel.
