The Phoenix Lights were a series of unidentified flying objects observed in the skies over the southwestern U.S. states of Arizona and Nevada on March 13, 1997. Thousands of witnesses reported seeing a series of mysterious lights forming a distinct V-shaped pattern in the night sky. The official explanation provided by the U.S. Air Force later was that the lights were flares dropped by A-10 Warthog aircraft during an exercise at a military training range in southwestern Arizona. This was met with skepticism as many witnesses claimed the lights they saw did not resemble flares.To this date, the Phoenix Lights are still a mystery.
