Intro (30 sec)
“Good morning to everyone tuning in to this edition of the Daily Club Update. This segment is brought to you from the Clubhouse at The Colony Golf & Country Club here in Bonita Springs, Florida.
I am your host and General Manager, Chris Alvarez, and today is Friday, September 26th at 7:00 a.m. The purpose of this daily update is to keep you informed on everything happening in the short term at The Colony Golf & Country Club. Let’s tee it up and get started!”
Dining Update
Today we are open for lunch service from 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. and dinner service will be available from 5:00–8:00 p.m., featuring our Toast to Two with bottle-of-wine specials. The bar will remain open until the last member leaves.
Day Forecast & Date (1 min)
“Today’s local forecast is calling for partly cloudy skies with a high of 91 degrees.”
Golf Course Update (1 min)
“We currently have 18 golfers on the tee sheet today, and conditions are optimal with no cart-path-only restrictions.
Jeff shared a great update at this week’s Department Head meeting:
He top-dressed all the greens today, which means by Saturday, with 60 golfers scheduled, the greens will be rolling beautifully.
Next week is Bunker Week for his team, correcting depths in all bunkers to ensure they meet USGA standards.
Wall-to-wall fertilizer has also been applied, which will green up the course just in time for mid-October when we reopen the course 7 days a week.
Jeff and his entire team do a tremendous job, and we are very thankful for their efforts. Please thank them whenever you see them on the course.”
Upcoming Events (2 min)
“Here’s what the calendar looks like for the week ahead:
Tonight, if you’re in town, make sure to come to the Club! We’ll have live music from the one and only Guy Smith, one of Southwest Florida’s most well-known and engaging performers. Dinner will feature a Hawaiian-style menu. Aloha—we hope to see you tonight!
Please call to make reservations for tonight or tomorrow evening.”
Culinary Update (1.5 min)
“Today for lunch, we’re offering our house-made soup of the day: Beef and Vegetable Stew. Just like mom used to make in the crock pot—with chunks of slow-cooked braised beef tips, mirepoix, chunky tomatoes, peas, and carrots. Come enjoy a hearty cup or bowl at lunch.”
Service Initiatives & Club News (1.5 min)
“Now for a Club News update:
Yesterday, Tyler Church, Director of Facilities, and I met with general contractors from Heatherwood Construction, along with our partner Vinnie from Peacock and Lewis. Vice President Mrs. Saia also joined us as we toured all areas under consideration and shared perspectives.
The next step will be receiving project pricing through their software system, followed by another meeting with the Board to review that structure. I will report more as information becomes available, with a target of mid-November for presenting to the membership.
Additionally, the Board of Governors will meet Monday, September 29th, to continue discussions on the 2026 Operating Budget. Once decisions are made, we will prepare and share transparent updates with the membership.”
Perspective on Current Events (2 min)
“No further updates today.”
Word of Wisdom & Closing (1 min)
“Let’s wrap up with today’s Word of Wisdom. If you didn’t catch yesterday’s reflection, I encourage you to listen—it touched on an important takeaway from a recent Club Manager meeting in Naples with over 150 professionals from across Southwest Florida.
Today’s quote comes from the book Unreasonable Hospitality: ‘Black and white means you’re doing your job with competence and efficiency; color means you make people feel great about the job you’re doing for them.’
As of today, we’re finalizing a seasonal calendar featuring Club events across all departments, rolling out next week. This initiative brings fresh, creative, and memorab
