What is the difference between game excellence and having an excellent game? Which would you rather have said of you???

This term comes from Pat Riley, a famous championship basketball coach. He stated that anyone can have an excellent game once in a while, but to be truly great, you have to display game excellence, which means you consistently and on a regular everyday basis continually perform at your top level and peak performance. How can you make a focused effort to not get too proud on one excellent game, and work towards game excellence.
