Episode Synopsis

Episode 015: As Women’s History Month comes to a close, it's important for women in medicine to reflect on where we are today and where we want to go in the future.  We’ve come so far and we should not only celebrate our professional achievements, but those of the women who have gone before us. However, there is still more work to be done.  While the fight for equality and fairness was necessary, it perhaps pushed us too far in the other direction...to another extreme.  We’ve been taught that being successful means doing things like men. We’ve been taught to disconnect from our body and her “inconvenient” cycles and rhythms. We’ve been taught that feelings and emotions are uncomfortable, unsafe and potentially embarrassing, so we learned to suppress or numb them out.  THIS is a huge reason for burnout, overwhelm and stress.  But I believe that as we embody our feminine genius MORE and bring it into balance with the masculine, we will see a profound shift--not only within ourselves, but in the world as well.  So I'm sharing 3 truths for women in medicine to embrace during Women's History Month and beyond.
