Send a Text - Feedback WelcomeThe role that carbon plays in construction design and delivery is large, accounting for over 40% of UK emissions that the industry is either directly responsible for or which it influences. Reducing it requires new techniques, different ways of building and a change in culture within construction. Dr. Russ Hall is the Lead for Sustainable Manufacturing and the Circular Economy at the Warwick Manufacturing Group. He straddles the gap between industry and academia, advising both Government and Industry on carbon reduction within manufacturing and carbon accounting within broader society.Russ discusses his views on net-zero within the UK and how this compares to other countries. He explores the challenges that businesses face and the drive to record, account and then manage carbon emissions. Russ’ view is that carbon reduction must be financially beneficial, but that many activities will make significant contributions to the bottom line. Russ is an advocate of recognising the cost of energy and the need to “just use less”, whether this is material waste, or energy. He also advocates for small changes done by many.
