This conversation was originally going to probably go one direction, and we wound up heading in a totally new one instead.   Divorce is something that isn’t well understood, taught about, or talked about in the church - and more often than not, there aren’t a ton of resources or stories within the Church for children going through divorces that involve adultery, abuse, narcissism, or ongoing lying. There’s plenty that Katie left unsaid for the sake of honoring all of her parents, but we think this was still quite an edifying and healing conversation.   Hopefully Katie sharing and unpacking her experience as a child of walking through two very different divorces can help someone out there process a little more about your own experience!   God does not call bad things good, but he doesn’t leave us in the midst of any of it.
