Listen "E50 S1 BH Alabama win over Wisconsin 38 14 Instant Reaction as Bama takes another step toward the playoffs"
Episode Synopsis
E50 BH Alabama win over Wisconsin 38-14 Instant Reaction Step 2 in the 10 Step path to the playoffs The march to 10 wins took another step today. Good win against an OK opponent. Bama more talented and showed it. Coaching? Execution? Offensive standouts Ty Simpson 24/29 for 382 yds and 4 TD’s – Ty also effective scrambling Ryan Williams 5 catches for 165 yds and 2 TD’s Germie Bernard 4 catches for 62 yds and 1 TD on pass catch and 1 TD on reverse run Isaiah Horton and Lotzier Brooks also had good games Defensive Standouts Bray Hubbard – 2 Ints and some very nice tackles Sacks by LT Overton, Yhonzae Pierre, Qua Russaw, and London Simmons Simmons was strong in the middle as well. Pierre may be the next great Bama edge rusher. Team Stats Bama 454 yds to Wis 209 Rushing Bama 72 yds to 92 for Wisc No turnovers for Bama, two for Wisconsin Penalties – 6-65 for Wisc, 7-57 for Bama – Push Time of Poss: 31 for Wisc, 28 for Bama – bit surprising Areas of concern Giving up TD on kickoff in 2nd half Lack of production in run game Penalties still too many Passing game very effective. Used short and intermediate passing game to put together many long drives Ryan Williams – double reverse flea fleacker screen pass for TD was amazing Wisconsin used 7 and 8 men fronts a lot, so Bama was not successful running, but it opened up the pass which Bama exploited. Bama defense got burned on wheel route to running back just like FSU and SC burned us on it. We have to be ready for it. Also, got burned on TE screen. Otherwise, defense was very good except for long TD pass late in the game. Shut down the reverses Wisc tried.
