Recently, we watched this documentary film where acclaimed French artist JR confronts prejudice and uplifts communities through larger-than-life art. He uses photography, and prints large murals and pastes them on buildings and landscapes. His art is stunning and visionary
We are painting our home after 20 years. Our contractor John Monaghan is an artist. He paints over the old Faux paint, sees the flaws in the walls, patches them, paints the patch, and then finishes the 2nd coat.
I said to him… “Did you know you are an artist? Your medium is a monochrome color, and your canvas is drywall, wood, and more!” He said, “I never really thought about it that way, but you are RIGHT!”
Based on that conversation, I have started to understand that when I work with my contractors or myself to create content, I could look at each as them as a form of ART creation:
