Listen "28-Respect America's Teachers"
Episode Synopsis
Having served as a band director in the public schools for the last 15 years, I am incredibly frustrated with the amount of disrespect that kids and society at large give to today's teachers.
In this episode we dive into the consequences of that lack of respect. If the trends continue, America's schools are in the most trouble that they will have been in during my lifetime as more and more teachers continue to be a part of a mass exodus from the profession...even in the midst of one of the worst job markets we've had in a LONG time.
Teaching may not be the most difficult job in certain respects, BUT it has some unique stressors that many people fail to recognize and respect.
Hopefully for those of you that have never stepped foot in the classroom, this will help you empathize a little more.
And students...you have a HUGE role to play in fixing America's schools. Time to take ownership of your future!
