Introducing “Surf Soup and the Magical Hair-No Haircuts!” - the latest addition to the Surf Soup book series by award-winning Emmy honored TV animator, author, and illustrator Donna Kay Lau-that’s me!
In this whimsical and imaginative tale, Koa’s magical hair is his connection to his creative imagination, and he refuses to get a haircut. When he discovers an old TV in the Surf Soup TV book, he puts it on his head and the TV starts working, and they have their very own cartoon show - Surf Soup TV! With the help of Auntie Donna, an animator and the kids in her cartoon studio, they produce their own animated shorts and books.
This book is not only a fun and exciting adventure, but it also showcases the power of imagination and creativity. With each turn of the page, readers will be inspired to embrace their own unique ideas and let their imaginations run wild.
As an added bonus, this book is part of a larger Surf Soup book series with 10 books and 6 activity and journal and sketch books, as well as a Surf Soup TV cartoon show and a new program teaching animation to grade school kids.
Through their adventures, they learn about the power of Social Emotional Learning, grit, and perseverance, and teach kids to never stop dreaming.
But that’s not all. In the end, Koa finally gets a haircut and decides to donate his hair to a classmate with alopecia. Koa’s hair ends up on his classmate’s head, but it’s not the right color or texture. Through this experience, Koa and his friends learn about alopecia and how to be supportive of those with different experiences.
