We have a late weatherfools moment entry from Winter Weather Expert, Tom Niziol:
…The Old MacDonald Incident…
Decades ago, the NWS offices taped their own broadcasts for the weather radio. Each morning, at the end of a midnight shift, around sunrise we would tape our daily forecast. At the end of that forecast we added an agricultural supplement for farming operations. Well, you tend to get squirrely after being up all night and one morning the 3 of us decided to give that morning forecast a little extra pizazz. As one guy read the forecast into the microphone to tape it, the other 2 stood in the background and made farmyard animal noises, chicken, cows, even little piggies.  It was a masterpiece!!  The taped forecast remained on the weather radio for about a 4 hour period. Don’t know how many of our listeners actually heard the broadcast but there must have been some smiles and raised eyebrows over the incident. We do not know to this day whether or not our boss was aware of what we did, which we have always referred to as the Old MacDonald incident… and now you know the rest of the story…
