Listen "Philippians, Part 2 - Paul's Eternal Perspective"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode, we look at 1:1-26, focusing in on Paul's eternal perspective. In 1:12-14, Paul talks about even though he has been suffering, God has used it to spread the gospel in 2 ways. Knowing the historical context to this letter, how would knowing that God is using Paul's suffering for the gospel have encouraged the Philippians? Paul talks about two groups of people in 1:15-18a. One group likes him, the other group...not so much. What is remarkable is Paul's perspective on the situation, and it has led some to believe that we are never to rebuke fellow brothers and sisters in the faith. But, is that really what Paul is talking about here? 1:18b-26 contains some of Paul's most quoted material: Living is Christ and dying is gain. This is where we see Paul's eternal perspective most clearly, and take a look at the question, "What does it mean to have an eternal perspective?"Support the show
