This is a back plot episode, meaning the main story arc of the series is demoted in importance so as to emphasize different characters and subplots. Specifically, ‘Point of Light’ covers three storylines: 1) Amanda and Michael’s inquiry into Spock and his whereabouts; 2) Chancellor L’Rell and her hold on The Klingon Empire; and 3) Tilly’s visions of her dead friend May and the fear she’s losing her mind. Although, not as exciting as the two previous episodes, the episode offered important developments in story and character that will pay off benefits in future episodes.
