Listen "S1E7 Hearing (Creative) Voices"
Episode Synopsis
Welcome to another week of Stage Door Medium. This week, Broadway talent and playwright Jason Forbach stops by the Stage Door to chat with Jimmy. Jason’s Broadway credits include the 2014 revival of Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera. In addition, Jason toured the country as Enjorlas in Les Miserables before the Broadway production opened, and was a part of the Las Vegas Spectacular Phantom (Google some of the crazy special effects) for three years. This week, Jimmy and Jason discuss all things Phantom, including the differences in audience energy from Vegas to Broadway, why the show may be less about love and more about the grief cycle, and how audience members are more visible than they think they are at the Majestic theatre. In addition, Jason talks about his award winning play, Heathen Hill, and how our creative higher-self voice (it sounds just like your own) helps us navigate the artistic process. While we don’t talk about Jason’s reading too much this week, as Jimmy read him a few years back, we do talk about the one Spirit (they were a BIG Phan) who is at the Majestic every time Jimmy visits the show. Jason also shares his thoughts on the most important question of all: “Should we actually like Raoul?” as well as a fun Les Mis wig mishap as well.
