Episode Synopsis
Tom is joined by his former college roommate and close friend Thomas Huerter Jr. to discuss his playing career, from winning the NY AA state championship with his brother Kevin all the way to playing for 3 different collegiate head coaches. Smalls and Tom discuss the lessons he provides to the athletes he coaches in AAU basketball, and what it was like growing up in a basketball family. Tom provides insight about what it has been like to experience his brother's career in the NBA develop as well as both of his sisters playing high level Division I basketball. Additionally, a special guest call-in from Tom's brother (Kevin Huerter) on who is physically stronger!
About Thomas:
Thomas grew up in Clifton Park, New York, and attended Shenendehowa High School, where he helped his team win the Class AA Basketball NY State Championship in 2015. After Shenendehowa, Thomas did a post graduate year at Cheshire Academy in Connecticut. Thomas would then go on to play for three years at Siena College, finishing his undergraduate degree in that time. Following Siena, Thomas played out his fourth year of eligibility and earned a Master’s Degree at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
Thomas is currently a project manager at the Huersch Marketing Group, he helps in various capacities at the Impact Athletic Center in Halfmoon, he is the director of Huerter Basketball Camps, Vice President of the Kevin Huerter Foundation, and is the head coach of the 17U boys team for the Elevate NY Basketball Club.
