Join us as we sit down with Richard Uhlhorn, a true Renaissance Man of Lake Chelan! A Manson High School graduate, Richard has worn many hats—photographer, writer, journalist, historian, scientist, entrepreneur, and adventurer. Since 1988, he has been capturing the stories of our valley through his work at the Chelan Mirror, GoLakeChelan, and now All Things Lake Chelan, where he continues to document the news, history, and heart of our community.Richard’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. After attending Western Washington University, he worked for the Bureau of Commercial Fisheries, spent summers in Alaska collecting salmon samples, and joined the National Guard in 1963. His adventures took him on a 90-day Pacific Ocean scientific cruise with the Pacific Oceanographic Research Laboratories and later to England in search of ancient shipwrecks.Back home, Richard became a household name in journalism, covering everything from Hang Gliding Championships to City Council meetings. His lens has captured countless senior photos, and his reporting has shaped the way we understand the valley’s stories.
