Alexandra de Guzman, a Charlottesville-based coach, brings over 20 years of competitive tennis experience. Originally from New Jersey, she was a top-five sectional junior and a USTA national doubles champion. She went on to play NCAA Division I tennis at William & Mary, where her team ranked as high as #8 nationally. After earning a B.S. in Kinesiology with a minor in Art and Art History, she served as the Women’s Assistant Coach at William & Mary and later coached at the Van Der Meer Tennis Academy in South Carolina.Certified by the USPTA, PTR, and as a Tennis Performance Specialist, Alex has worked with nationally ranked juniors and supported a touring pro at the Madrid and French Opens. She’s coached in elite environments and formerly held a coaching role at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville. Alex spent two years in Spain teaching tennis and English, shaping a coaching philosophy rooted in self-awareness and empathy. She later managed international university programs for a company before founding Second Serve Tennis in 2018. In May 2025, she rebranded to APEX Performance Center, expanding to offer performance training for young athletes in Charlottesville.
