Jesus tells his disciples, "You are the salt of the earth." So we should be too, as followers of Him, we must maintain our distinctive qualities (such as moral integrity, love, and truth) in order to fulfill our purpose. We are to be lights in this dark world. Light represents truth, goodness, and the presence of God. We are meant to shine in the world, showing others the way to God.
