Listen "Pride Month"
Episode Synopsis
Let those rainbow flags fly, because it’s officially the gayest month of the year! To celebrate the beginning of Pride Month, Ben and Annabel spend this week’s episode revisiting the LGBT cult classic and coming of age satire ‘But I’m a Cheerleader’ (1999). After her parents and friends suspect her to be a lesbian, the titular cheerleader played by Natasha Lyonne is sent to a conversion camp for sexually confused teens run by none other than director Cathy Moriarty and counsellor RuPaul. Has this movie earned its place in the queer cinematic canon? Or was its critical panning not in fact an act of homophobia, but an apt take? Stream our full review now to be an ally.
